By requesting, booking, or using our services via website, phone, or messaging, you agree to these Terms.

1. Nature of Our Service (Important Notice)

Property Works Group Limited trading as HandymanAuckland.co.nz operates as a service coordination and booking platform that connects customers with independent contractors and tradespeople.

We do not perform the physical work ourselves.

All maintenance, repair, installation, and property services are carried out by independent contractors, not by Property Works Group Limited.

Our role is limited to:

  • arranging bookings
  • communicating job details
  • coordinating attendance
  • facilitating payments where applicable

We are not the service provider.

2. Independent Contractors

All contractors engaged through our platform:

  • are self-employed
  • are not employees, agents, or partners of Property Works Group Limited
  • control how the work is performed
  • provide their own tools, materials, and methods

The contractor is solely responsible for:

  • workmanship
  • building code compliance
  • safety procedures
  • damages arising from the work

3. Liability Limitation

To the maximum extent permitted under New Zealand law, Property Works Group Limited trading as HandymanAuckland.co.nz is not liable for:

  • property damage
  • faulty or incomplete work
  • personal injury
  • contractor negligence or behaviour
  • delays or missed appointments
  • indirect or consequential loss

Any claim relating to the work must be directed to the contractor who performed the service.

4. Customer Acknowledgement

By booking a service you acknowledge:

  • The contractor is an independent service provider
  • We do not supervise or control the work
  • Disputes must be handled with the contractor directly

5. Payments & Charges

Payments collected by Property Works Group Limited are for booking and coordination services unless clearly stated otherwise.

Once a contractor has travelled to the site, charges apply regardless of whether work proceeds.

Quotes are estimates unless stated as fixed price.

6. Call-Out & Cancellation

A call-out fee applies once a contractor is dispatched.

If the customer:

  • cancels after dispatch
  • refuses access
  • provides incorrect job information

the visit remains chargeable.

7. Warranty Disclaimer

Property Works Group Limited does not guarantee the quality or outcome of contractor work.

Any workmanship guarantee is provided solely by the contractor.

8. Insurance

Contractors are responsible for maintaining their own insurance where required.

Property Works Group Limited does not insure or cover contractor workmanship.

9. Customer Responsibilities

Customers must:

  • provide accurate job details
  • ensure safe access to the property
  • remove hazards
  • ensure utilities are available if needed

Additional charges may apply where job details were inaccurate.

10. Disputes

We may assist communication but are not responsible for resolving disputes between customer and contractor.

11. Consumer Guarantees Act 1993

To the extent permitted by law, services are supplied by independent contractors. Consumer rights apply against the contractor performing the work, not Property Works Group Limited, as we act only as an intermediary booking service.

12. Website Use

You agree not to submit false bookings or bypass payment after a contractor has been dispatched.

13. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of our services constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

14. Estimates From Photos & Price Variations

Any price provided from photos, messages, or verbal description is an estimate only.

Actual pricing may change after the contractor attends the property because hidden conditions cannot be assessed remotely. These may include (but are not limited to):

  • internal damage
  • incorrect measurements
  • structural issues
  • previous poor workmanship
  • additional materials required
  • access difficulties
  • safety requirements
  • time required exceeding estimate

The contractor will inform the customer before continuing work if the price changes significantly.

If the customer chooses not to proceed after attendance, the call-out fee and time spent diagnosing the issue remain payable.

By booking a service, the customer acknowledges that photographs and descriptions may not accurately represent the scope of work and agrees that final pricing is determined onsite.

15. Pre-Existing Conditions & External Causes

Property Works Group Limited trading as HandymanAuckland.co.nz is not responsible for issues caused by pre-existing property conditions outside the agreed scope of work.

These may include, but are not limited to:

  • uneven flooring
  • carpet height or thickness
  • structural movement
  • door frame movement or swelling
  • building settlement
  • moisture expansion
  • previous installation defects
  • hidden internal damage

Where such conditions affect the result, the service will still be considered completed once the agreed adjustments or repairs have been performed.

16. Door & Hardware Adjustment Limitation

Door adjustment services relate only to the hardware and alignment components unless otherwise quoted.

Correct door operation depends on surrounding building conditions. Property Works Group Limited does not guarantee perfect closing, sealing, or alignment where flooring, frames, walls, or structural elements interfere with movement.

Further building or flooring work may be required and is not included unless specifically stated.

17. Recommendations & Customer Decisions

Where our contractor advises that additional work outside the agreed scope is required to permanently resolve the issue, and the customer declines or delays that work, Property Works Group Limited is not responsible for ongoing or recurring problems.

18. Completion of Work

Work is considered completed when:

  • the agreed repair or adjustment is performed, and
  • the contractor demonstrates reasonable operation under existing site conditions.

Completion is not dependent on resolving unrelated structural or environmental factors.

19. Return Visits

Return visits requested due to issues caused by external factors, building conditions, or declined recommendations may be chargeable.

By requesting or approving the work, the client acknowledges and agrees that:

  • Any breakage of existing glass or fragile materials during repair work is at the client's risk.
